Morris Miller is a dedicated public servant who has served as a City Council member for 16 years. With a wealth of experience and a passion for community development, Morris has made significant contributions to growth and progress of his city.
Prior to his retirement, Morris worked as the Director of Operations for the Greene County Board of Education. In this role, he oversaw various aspects of the education system, ensuring smooth operations and efficient resource management. His commitment to providing quality education to the youth of Greene County has been unwavering.
In addition to this role in local government, Morris also serves on the Board of Health for the Oconee Valley Health Center. Through this position, he actively promotes and advocates for the well-being and access to healthcare services for the residents of his community. Morris understands the importance of healthy population in achieving continued growth and prosperity.
Furthermore, Morris also serves on the board for Greene County Recreation, recognizing the significance of recreational activities in enhancing the overall quality of life for residents. Christopher (Chris) Moore is a lifelong resident of Greene County. Chris has served on the Greensboro City Council since 2010 as a City Councilman. He is the son of Grady and Alice Lawrence of Greensboro, Ga., and Charles Moore of Atlanta, Ga. Along with a strong support system with his wife of 25 years, Toby Moore, Chris also gets his strength from his five wonderful children, along with six precious grandchildren. After graduating from Greene-Taliaferro Comprehensive High School in 1991. Chris enlisted in the United States Navy and honorably served his country.
Some achievements that Chris has accomplished along his life’s journey include but are not limited to the recipient of Georgia Municipal Association Certificate of Recognition, Georgia Municipal Association Certification of Achievement, and Georgia Municipal Association Certificate of Excellence. Chris is also a graduate of the Robert E. Knox Jr. Municipal Leadership Institute. Outside of municipal government certifications and awards, Chris holds a BS in Organizational Leadership. Chris currently oversees the day-to-day Operations at the Boehringer-Ingelheim Corporation in Athens, GA where he manages the Small Volume Filling Department.
Chris has experience in prioritizing the resources that are available within the community, safeguarding the community through essential planning. A few accomplishments that Chris has been able to achieve while maintaining the title of City Councilman include working with the Recreation Board along with CSX Railroad to provide crossing guards at the Recreation Center, led efforts in implementing a Pit Bull ordinance, led major efforts with Georgia Power with the installation of streetlights on Northeast Street and Apalachee Ave., the renovation of Mary-Leila Cotton Mill which resulted into 72 units of affordable housing and stifled any increases in the Mileage rate.
Chris is an avid music lover and was instrumental in bringing “Motown on Main” to Greensboro. Chris was also instrumental in updating the zoning requirements which helped establish locations for Chick-Fil-A, Burger King, Tru Hotel and Oconee Brewery in Greensboro.
Chris’ mission has always been to put the community first and to serve others in any fashion needed. A few goals that keep Chris motivated are fighting for more affordable housing, creating jobs by both assisting in the expansion of current businesses, as well as recruiting new businesses within the community. Chris has a vested interest in implementing a youth council. Other initiatives important to Chris are improving the existing infrastructure, beautification of the city, and public safety initiatives.
Lastly, Chris sees Greensboro as the one of the most important communities nested between Atlanta and Augusta off I-20. His vision is to ensure that travelers on I-20 have an opportunity to Stop, Shop and Savor all that Greensboro has to offer. Hopefully, our community will be intriguing enough for those that visit to return for an extended stay.
